“My first photo work was a car crash on interstate 76 in Philadelphia, PA where the car caught fire and was upside down. I called the Philadelphia Daily News and asked the editor if they would be interested in any of the pictures and the editor asked did you get any victims running on fire and I said sorry no and the editor was like sorry kid next time get there quicker this is a competitive business but later that week they ended up buying a couple photos for a story. After shooting the car crash I eventually got my foot in the door and had a meeting with the photo editor who during this interview said that this is the worst portfolio he has ever seen and that I will never amount to anything and should never pick up a camera ever again. I currently shoot photo assignments for The New York Times, Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, New York Mag, Mother Jones, Atlas Obscura, NBC, Bloomberg, BuzzFeed, W Magazine. My pictures have been published in the New Yorker, The Atlantic, , The Economist, Vanity fair, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, Globe & Mail, Nat Geo, Der Spiegel and many more.
